  • Spoko Taco Lands in Gdynia! But Is Riviera’s New Mexican Street Food Worth the Hype?

Spoko Taco Lands in Gdynia! But Is Riviera’s New Mexican Street Food Worth the Hype?

Tacos, burritos, melted cheese and a little Mexican madness. Gdynia’s biggest shopping centre has a spicy new arrival — and we’re already getting hungry.

Forget another boring shopping-centre lunch. Spoko Taco has officially opened at Centrum Riviera in Gdynia, bringing Mexican-inspired street food to the mall’s first-floor food court.

The restaurant opened on October 17, becoming only the second Spoko Taco location in Poland, following its debut in Kraków.

Behind the concept is Mex Polska, a publicly listed hospitality group operating more than 65 restaurants and bars. Clearly, somebody believes Poland is ready for a serious taco invasion.

    What’s on the Menu?

Expect tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and customisable bowls, with plenty of sauces to keep things interesting.

The concept promises bold flavours, affordable prices and quick service, whether you’re eating in, grabbing takeaway or ordering delivery.

And the opening certainly wasn’t quiet. According to Spoko Taco, customers were already waiting before 10 a.m., with crowds arriving throughout the day. There was even live music to celebrate.

Apparently, Gdynia doesn’t need much convincing when melted cheese is involved.

But Is It Actually Any Good?

Colourful interiors and a packed opening day are one thing. A genuinely good taco? That’s another conversation.

3City Daily will be visiting Spoko Taco at Riviera very soon to put the food to the test. We’ll check the flavours, portions, prices and whether this new arrival deserves a regular spot on Gdynia’s food map.

And don’t worry, we’re not interested in simply repeating the marketing slogans.

We’ll bring our appetites, our opinions and absolutely no diplomatic immunity for disappointing guacamole.

Stay tuned for our independent review.

  • Poll Pitstop: Should Cars Be Kicked Out of Central Gdańsk? Participants Say ‘Yes’, ‘No’, or ‘Only on Weekends’!

Poll Pitstop: Should Cars Be Kicked Out of Central Gdańsk? Participants Say ‘Yes’, ‘No’, or ‘Only on Weekends’!

City Court results: 12 votes cast by participating readers. This is an informal online poll, not a representative survey.

    • Yes, ban them: (58.3%)
    • No, keep cars: (8.3%)
    • Only on weekends: (33.3%)

Poll Results: A Traffic Jam of Opinions

After a two-day poll asking, “Should cars be banned from central Gdańsk?”, our voters have spoken—or rather, they’ve signalled. The options were clear: “Yes, ban them,” “No, keep cars,” and the wily compromise, “Only on weekends.”

The verdict? A cheeky 58.3% opted to give the cars the boot entirely. Perhaps they envision cobbled streets free of honking and fumes, where cyclists and pedestrians reign supreme. Meanwhile, a (8.3%) bravely defended the right to keep cars buzzing through central Gdańsk, possibly clinging to their cherished parking spot or morning dash to the bakery.

Not to be overlooked, a solid 33.3% voted for the weekend ban—striking a balance between car-free serenity on days off and weekday convenience. It seems some voters dream of sipping coffee in a carless plaza come Saturday, but still want their weekday commute to remain less of a trek.

  • New Plans, Old Buildings and One Very Big Headache

New Plans, Old Buildings and One Very Big Headache

Gdańsk’s Dolne Miasto is becoming the centre of a fresh political storm. At the heart of it? An old tram depot, a neighbourhood sports ground and a redevelopment debate that’s proving considerably less peaceful than a Sunday stroll along the Motława.

The historic district is back in the spotlight as questions mount over its future and the role of private investment in reshaping the neighbourhood.

Two places are drawing particular attention: the former tram depot and Boisko Pod Wierzbami, a local sports ground.

The controversy has now reached the political arena, with a Polish MP announcing plans to intervene.

And while redevelopment can bring new life to forgotten corners of a city, it also raises an awkward question: who gets to decide what stays, what goes and what gets replaced?

For residents, the debate is about more than buildings. It’s about the character of a neighbourhood and the future of spaces that belong to its everyday life.

The bottom line? Dolne Miasto may be heading for change. But judging by the growing controversy, not everyone is ready to roll out the red carpet. There’s always one, but in this case a few more than one that wants to block progress!

And somewhere in Gdańsk, an old tram depot has somehow become more politically interesting than the trams themselves.

  • Gdańsk’s Nightlife Just Got a Serious Upgrade

Gdańsk’s Nightlife Just Got a Serious Upgrade

Some places serve cocktails. Others throw parties. BAL na Wyspie does both — and apparently hasn’t received the memo about going home early.

Right in the heart of Gdańsk’s buzzing Wyspa Spichrzów, at Chmielna 112, BAL is bringing a serious dose of glamour, energy and unapologetic good times to the city’s nightlife scene.

Officially opening its doors on 19 September 2026, BAL had already been making noise months earlier, hosting underground-style parties in its still-unfinished premises. From partying among the building works to one of the city’s most exciting new nightlife addresses — that’s quite the glow-up.

And this isn’t your average bar where the highlight of the evening is finding a free table. BAL is a two-level nightlife playground where stylish interiors, expertly mixed cocktails and DJs come together to create the kind of atmosphere that makes just one drink the biggest lie of the weekend.

Start downstairs with a cocktail and a little sophistication. Head upstairs when the music kicks in and suddenly your carefully planned quiet evening has disappeared faster than your phone battery at 3 AM.

VIP tables? Absolutely. Private parties? Of course. Even yacht cruises along the Motława? Because apparently arriving at a nightclub by taxi is just too ordinary.

BAL has that international party-destination energy, the kind you’d expect somewhere between Marbella and Ibiza, except you don’t need a plane ticket. Just make your way to Gdańsk.

The verdict? BAL na Wyspie isn’t simply another address on the nightlife map. It’s making a strong case for becoming one of Gdańsk’s hottest nights out.

And if you wake up the next morning promising yourself you’ll never go out again, congratulations. You probably had a brilliant night.

  • They Played a Ukrainian Song. Then Came the Insults. Now Gdańsk Police Want These Four Found.

They Played a Ukrainian Song. Then Came the Insults. Now Gdańsk Police Want These Four Found.

A song playing from a mobile phone. A few shouted insults. And then, allegedly, violence. What should have been an ordinary summer night on a Gdańsk beach turned into a disturbing attack on a Ukrainian couple. Now police have released the faces of four young people they want to identify.

    It started with music.

A Ukrainian woman was walking towards a public toilet near the beach on Zdrojowa Street in Gdańsk. A Ukrainian song was playing on her phone.

According to witness accounts reported by TVN24, a group nearby heard the music and allegedly began shouting vulgar, offensive remarks at her.

But the confrontation reportedly didn’t end there.

After returning from the restroom, the woman rejoined her companion. The couple remained on the beach for a while before deciding to leave.

That’s when the night allegedly turned violent.

The couple were attacked as they made their way from the beach. Both suffered injuries.

Investigators are treating the case as a suspected offence motivated by discrimination based on nationality.

    Four Faces. One Police Appeal.

Officers from Gdańsk’s 6th Police Station have obtained surveillance footage showing three young men and one woman believed to be connected to the incident.

Their images have now been released publicly as police attempt to establish their identities and whereabouts.

The four are being sought in connection with the investigation. Their involvement has not yet been established by a court.

    Recognise Them?

Police are asking anyone who recognises the individuals or has information about the incident to come forward.

    Contact Gdańsk Police:

Information can also be passed to any police station.

A Ukrainian song should have been nothing more than background music on a summer evening. Instead, it allegedly became the spark for an attack that has now drawn police attention across Gdańsk.

And four people captured on camera may have some explaining to do.
