A 16-year-old from Bydgoszcz is facing family-court proceedings after a dangerous drive ended in a crash in Gdańsk on 1 November. Police say the teenager took his parents’ BMW 7 Series without permission and headed to the coast.

Officers located the vehicle near Goplańska Street, but the driver attempted to escape. After turning into Otomińska Street, the car struck an electrical installation, overturned and travelled into a clearing. The teenager was detained while trying to get out of the wreckage and was taken to hospital for assessment.

Police reported that he had close to one per mille of alcohol in his system. Blood samples were also taken for further testing. The family court will determine the next steps. No other injuries were confirmed in the source report.n
