Gdańsk is getting ready to turn red and white. On Wednesday, 11 November 2026, the city’s 24th Independence Day Parade is expected to bring 20,000–30,000 people into the streets for a celebration of Polish freedom and togetherness.
Participants gather from 9:00 AM on Podwale Staromiejskie, with the march setting off at 10:30 AM. The procession winds through the historic centre and finishes at the Green Gate, where the national anthem and a huge community photograph are planned for around noon.
Elsewhere in the city, look out for patriotic concerts, guided walks, exhibitions, a carillon performance and special food offerings. Different generations, different opinions, one shared celebration. No tickets, no barriers — just Gdańsk showing its colours.

A song playing from a mobile phone. A few shouted insults. And then, allegedly, violence. What should have been an ordinary summer night on a Gdańsk beach turned into a disturbing attack on a Ukrainian couple. Now police have released the faces of four young people they want to identify.
It started with music.
A Ukrainian woman was walking towards a public toilet near the beach on Zdrojowa Street in Gdańsk. A Ukrainian song was playing on her phone.
According to witness accounts reported by TVN24, a group nearby heard the music and allegedly began shouting vulgar, offensive remarks at her.
But the confrontation reportedly didn’t end there.
After returning from the restroom, the woman rejoined her companion. The couple remained on the beach for a while before deciding to leave.
That’s when the night allegedly turned violent.
The couple were attacked as they made their way from the beach. Both suffered injuries.
Investigators are treating the case as a suspected offence motivated by discrimination based on nationality.
Four Faces. One Police Appeal.
Officers from Gdańsk’s 6th Police Station have obtained surveillance footage showing three young men and one woman believed to be connected to the incident.
Their images have now been released publicly as police attempt to establish their identities and whereabouts.
The four are being sought in connection with the investigation. Their involvement has not yet been established by a court.
Recognise Them?
Police are asking anyone who recognises the individuals or has information about the incident to come forward.
Information can also be passed to any police station.
A Ukrainian song should have been nothing more than background music on a summer evening. Instead, it allegedly became the spark for an attack that has now drawn police attention across Gdańsk.
And four people captured on camera may have some explaining to do.
Forget Ocean’s Eleven. Gdańsk has Ocean’s Two — and apparently, gloves were beyond the budget.
Two suspected burglars in Gdańsk have delivered what might be the most ridiculous crime story of the month.
Their master plan? Break into a liquor store wearing masks and white socks over their hands instead of gloves.
On October 18, the pair allegedly entered a shop on Grobla Street using a matching key, stole cash, cigarettes and alcohol worth nearly 6,000 PLN, and politely locked the door behind them.
Very professional.
Except they forgot one tiny detail.
The CCTV cameras were watching everything.
Police identified the suspects using surveillance footage and other evidence. On October 22, officers arrested the first man, aged 37, during an intervention involving another alleged shop theft.
Because apparently one criminal investigation wasn’t enough.
His 30-year-old suspected partner was arrested the following day.
And the plot thickened. Investigators also linked the pair to an alleged theft of more than 1,600 PLN worth of drugstore products in Gdynia.
Both men face burglary charges. As repeat offenders, they could receive prison sentences of up to 15 years if convicted.
The 3City Daily Verdict
White socks. Working CCTV. Getting caught during another alleged theft.
Gentlemen, congratulations.
You’ve officially been nominated for the 2026 Gdańsk Criminal Genius Awards.
First prize? Potentially 15 years of free accommodation.
Unfortunately, the dress code probably doesn’t include white socks over your hands.
Forget tech startups and luxury hotels. Apparently, the real money in Sopot is hiding inside a bowl of fish soup.
For over 30 years, Bar Przystań has been feeding hungry locals and tourists on Sopot’s beachfront. Long queues, mountains of fried fish and enough chips to feed a small country. But nobody expected the numbers to be quite this ridiculous.
According to Forbes, the family-run restaurant generated a staggering 37.7 million PLN in revenue in 2025, with 16.6 million PLN in net profit.
Yes, that’s profit. After expenses.
275,000 Bowls of Soup. Seriously.
The figures are almost as outrageous as the queues outside.
In just one year, Bar Przystań reportedly sold:
275,000 portions of Fisherman’s Soup
150,000 portions of fries
40 tonnes of Atlantic cod
The restaurant can accommodate around 525 customers at once, with orders typically served within 15 minutes.
That’s not just a beach bar. That’s a fish-powered money machine.
From Humble Beach Bar to Millions
Behind the success are the Kaniewski and Juszczakiewicz families, who have spent more than three decades building the business in the same beachfront location.
Now run by the second generation, including Damian Kaniewski and Łukasz Juszczakiewicz, Bar Przystań has become one of Sopot’s most remarkable family-business success stories.
No fancy international expansion. No celebrity chef empire. Just one location, a seriously efficient operation and a lot of hungry people. Just check the queues…
The 3City Daily Verdict
While half of Sopot is busy complaining about restaurant prices, Bar Przystań is quietly generating millions from fish soup, cod and chips.
16.6 million PLN in annual profit. From a beach bar.
Suddenly, that queue outside looks a little different.
And somewhere in Sopot, a restaurant owner is seriously reconsidering their menu.
Maybe we should all stop chasing the next big business idea and start selling fish soup.
