Sopot Lexus Theft: Two Men Sentenced After Stealing Małgorzata Tusk’s Car

The theft outside the prime minister’s Sopot home became one of Poland’s most closely watched car-crime cases. On 5 November, the District Court in Elbląg sentenced Łukasz W. to three years in prison and a PLN 15,000 fine, while Stefan N. received one year and three months and a PLN 10,000 fine. The judgment is not yet final.

According to the court’s findings, the Lexus was taken overnight on 9–10 September 2025 using an electronic device that enabled keyless access. Investigators linked the defendants to the offences using CCTV, phone records and forensic evidence. The Lexus was later recovered after being abandoned.

The court also addressed other car thefts. Both defendants were absent when the sentences were announced. The case underlines how modern vehicle-theft technology can still leave a very traditional trail of evidence.
